Polyester

The solids content of the polyester coatings (PE/UPE) of over 90% is very high. This characteristic is used for closed-pore coating systems, whereby a very thick surface can be achieved in just a few steps. The cured surfaces are scratch and abrasion-resistant, as well as resistant to a variety of solvents. Despite these advantages, the polyester coatings also come with disadvantages: Because of the short pot life of approximately 30 - 60 minutes depending on the coating, care must be taken to only use as much coating as can be processed. Furthermore, the space in which the coating is sprayed may not be cooler than 20°C or warmer than 25°C. PE coatings and NC coatings may not be processed in the same spraying booth, as the PE coating releases heat when curing, which in turn could cause the NC coating to ignite.
